Arthur (ou Artur) Rubinstein est un pianiste polonais naturalisé américain, né le 28 janvier 1887 à Łódź (Empire russe, actuelle Pologne) et mort le 20 décembre 1982 à Genève (Suisse).

Artiste mondain, très médiatisé et populaire, un des musiciens ayant donné le plus de concerts au cours de cette période, il figure parmi les plus grands pianistes du XX^e siècle.

Refusant de s'enfermer dans une case, Rubinstein couvre un large répertoire qui s'enrichit tout au long de sa carrière. Il fait partie des grands pianistes romantiques : il est considéré, en particulier, comme étant l'un des meilleurs interprètes de la musique de Chopin mais ses interprétations de Brahms, Beethoven ou Schumann par exemple sont aussi très réputées. Rubinstein joue aussi des œuvres du répertoire plus récent, de compositeurs tels que Villa-Lobos, Debussy, Ravel, De Falla, Albéniz ou Saint-Saëns. Enfin, le Polonais est un grand admirateur de Mozart auquel il reste très attaché tout au long de sa vie.

Arthur Rubinstein n'a aucun lien de parenté avec le pianiste et compositeur russe du XIX^e siècle Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894), bien que la confusion fût très fréquente au tout début de la carrière du pianiste du XX^e siècle.

Annabelle Whitestone, Baroness Weidenfeld (born October 1944), daughter of Cmdr. Nicholas Whitestone RN and Lorna Birkenshaw Whitestone, is an English former concert manager working with classical music impresarios including Ingpen & Williams, Ibbs and Tillett, Wilfrid Van Wyck, the English Bach Festival and, at the insistence and encouragement of the great violinist Henryk Szeryng, Conciertos Daniel in Madrid.

The Polish-American pianist Arthur Rubinstein credited Whitestone with assisting the careers of two of his protégés, François-René Duchâble and Janina Fialkowska.

In 1977, the 90-year-old Rubinstein left his wife Nela Młynarska after 45 years of marriage for Whitestone and lived with her in Geneva, Switzerland, until he died in 1982. Whitestone helped Rubinstein to write the second volume of his autobiography, My Many Years, which he dedicated to her. Rubinstein's first collaborator was Tony Madigan, whom he met in Marbella, and he transcribed the early part of the book.

Whitestone convened Remembering Rubinstein, a day of talks and concerts at the Royal Academy of Music on 22 January 2008, to honour the pianist "who once sold as many records as rock stars and was as much at ease in the White House as he was with his chums Picasso and Charlie Chaplin." Lady Weidenfeld is a member of the board of directors of the Jerusalem Music Centre and the advisory board of the Jerusalem Foundation, and a member of the board of directors of the Arthur Rubinstein International Music Society. Lady Weidenfeld was also the personal manager of the legendary late concert pianist Menahem Pressler who dedicated his last Deutsche Grammophon recording of French music, “Clair de Lune” to her. She was his partner from 2016 until his death in 2023.

Annabelle Whitestone was married to British publisher Lord Weidenfeld from 1992 until he died in 2016. She later began a relationship with pianist Menahem Pressler, whom she had known since 1966, and lasted until his death in 2023.
